Thank you for the Seize the Time Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. I was very grateful and pleased to learn that I was selected as the recipient of the scholarship award. For the last few years, I have been a surgical scheduler at a local ophthalmic practice. While assisting our ambulatory surgical center, I was afforded the opportunity to shadow a surgical technologist and immediately wanted to purse that line of work. After finding out about Illinois Central College, and the wonderful surgical technologist program, I applied and began the first steps towards my new career. I am a first-year Illinois Central College student majoring in surgical technology.

I plan to pursue a career as a certified surgical technologist within the Peoria area with a long-term goal of becoming a traveling surgical technologist. Currently, I plan to graduate from ICC in fall 2022. By awarding me the Seize the Time Scholarship, you have reduced my financial burden and allowed me to focus on my schoolwork and not stress about paying for next year’s fees, tuition, or textbooks. Thanks to your scholarship, I am now one step closer to achieving my goal and thank you for your generosity.
